AL 1618 Tipper

Ashok Leyland 1618 IL is a tipper with a starting ex-showroom price of INR 14.3 lakh. It comes in the only wheelbase of 3,607 mm with Cowl and CAB body type. Both these body types have 2 variants each with 8.5 CuM and 10.5 CuM load capacity. The load capacity is, however, same at 16,200 kg. Its fit for construction and mining industry carrying loads like blue metal, coals, stones, ores and more. Powered by engine specifications of 5,660 cc H Series TCIC BS-III motor, it belts out 180 bhp power and 670 Nm torque. A 38% gradeability and power steering makes maneuvering easy. The CAB version has basic interior features including instrument cluster dials and standard seats.

    Backed by H Series 4 Cylinder Turbocharged Intercooled 3.7 Litre BSIII Diesel motor, EComet 1212 Smart produces 120 hp power @ 2,400 rpm and 392 Nm torque @ 1,600 rpm. These number are perfectly balanced for the city roads, where regular stop-go procedure is followed. The top speed of 90.4 km/h and gradeability of 19.4% is suited best for city roads where time is the most important factor than any other thing. Its Synchromesh 5-Speed gearbox and 330 mm diameter Single Plate Dry type Hydraulic Actuation clutch helps the truck to move easily as they make the transmission process smooth. For better performance, the clutch has been improved and made to last longer than usual.

    Packed with power steering, it’s easy to maneuver Ecomet 1212 Smart on the narrow city roads and cut through the sharper turns. Coming down to suspension, it has Semi Elliptical Multileaf Shackle Type springs at front and rear to counter most of the road speed breakers. Also, the Reverse Elliot I Beam Heavy Duty Forged front axle and Fully Floating rear axle also chip in to provide further drive balance on uneven roads with load full to its capacity.

This powerhouse is good enough to produce maximum power of 180 bhp @ 2,400 rpm and a peak torque of 670 Nm torque @ 1,300-1,600 rpm. Its 381 mm diameter Axial Type Ceramic Discand Clutch with Clutch Boosters with 6-Speed gearbox transmission system takes this truck to a top-speed of 80 km/h in top gear with more than enough gradeability of 38% for every possible hill road in the country.
